''Playing Up'' って何?

Does "Playing up" help young athletes develop faster?

There are popular beliefs that playing up athletes will allow them to advance in comparison to their peers of the same age. However, not everyone agrees. Me neither. Others have said that playing up could expose younger athletes to an intense sporting environment too early and potentially hinder their development.

Of course, it's a good way to introduce athletes to new challenges and pushing them to progress, stopping them from getting too comfortable or complacent with their team.

However, in those environments, your teammates tend to be bigger, stronger and their skills are of a higher ability. These differences could potentially cause your promising players to make mistakes in front of older athletes in training, which could lower their confidence. These mistakes could lead younger athletes to develop a fear of failure, which could ultimately hinder their performance.

The key is balance. We want to provide an environment that can challenge them, but also provide them with the choice to return to their previous team at any time to regain their confidence, especially for elementary school students. It is also important to be skeptical about whether this is really the case, as it is easy to think that they will grow more if they continue to play at a higher level.

What are your thought?
